Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians

Oakley girls have woken today to Storm Claudia; after a calm start to the month, it has been a rather wet and windy week. The girls get themselves up in the mornings to walk in the dark up for breakfast and the end of the day turns dark before they finish their Activities. November can be a long month but this is a shorter term, with just 4 weeks to go now until the break for Christmas and, judging by the number of parcels delivered every day, the hot topic of Christmas Party dresses helps to lift the mood!

I was extremely proud of the whole House for their respectful participation in Remembrance Day on Sunday. It is an important day in our School’s history and the fact that 500+ day students attend to join the 500+ boarders, always makes for a poignant moment of reflection.

Sai-Nam Panyasiri, Kerron Reddy and Ava Curley represented the CCF at a parade in town.

At the end of September, 14 girls entered the UKMT Mathematical Olympiad and Mathematical Competitions for Girls. In Routh Assembly, Jessica Lam and Christina Ha were congratulated for their Merit Award. Well done also to Sai-Nam Panyasiri and Amy Wang who achieved a Distinction. Not only that, Amy was named Best in School, which is a remarkable achievement for a 5th Former.

To thank the Monitors for the first half term of service and dedication to Oakley, we treated them to a Monitor Lunch in town last week. It was well deserved:

Good luck to our girls competing in U4 House Badminton at lunchtime today. I hope to write with news of their success in the next bulletin.

Best wishes

Victoria Adams
